All students have 60 minutes of regular music class per week with Mrs. Terri Schilmoeller. These classes focus on vocal music training, music history, elements of music theory, and movement.  By the time a student graduates from St. Teresa, they will be able to read music (Western notation and basics of chant), sing with others, play the recorder, guitar, and ukulele, and have studied multiple composers and important works of music.

Additionally, St. Teresa School offers the following programs:

Beginning Violin Class for all 3rd Graders
All 3rd graders spend a semester learning violin basics as part of their music class.

4th - 8th Grade Strings
After 3rd grade, students have the option of continuing to play the violin or switching to viola, cello, or bass.  Currently students have strings class once a week during the school day.  The instruments are owned by the school and are rented to families for $20/year.  Students learn basic instrumental skills and orchestra fundamentals.  They usually perform twice a year.

Junior High Choir
Open to 7th - 8th graders, this group practices on Mondays after school and sings at Mass on Tuesday.  Students learn a variety of sacred music, learn how to sing in four parts, and work on important choral skills and vocal techniques.

Student Organists
7th-8th graders that have acquired basic piano skills have the option of learning to play the organ for Mass.  Mrs. Schilmoeller organizes and coaches these students who play at the school Masses on Thursdays and Fridays.  The goal is to give students to opportunities to use their talents to serve the church, and equip the next generation of church musicians to serve their future parishes.

Music Concerts
There are two vocal music concerts each year, one around Christmastime and one in the spring.  The K-4 students perform in one of these, and the 5th-8th in the other (younger and older grades alternate between Christmas and spring concerts each year).  The school orchestra sometimes performs during the vocal concerts and sometimes has a separate performance.  Band performances are scheduled separately.

Band
Mrs. Melissa King teaches band to 5th - 8th grade students.  Students wishing to learn a woodwind, brass, or percussion instrument sign up at the beginning of the schoolyear and work with Mrs. King several times a week during the school day.

Pius Honor Choir & Honor Band
Each fall, 8th graders have the option of attending an Honor Choir day at Pius to spend the day under the direction of Pius choral directors and perform an evening concert.  Pius Honor Band is a similar experience that happens in the spring for selected 7th-8th grade band students.
