Retreats

I rise before dawn and cry out;
I put my hope in your words.
My eyes greet the night watches
as I meditate on your promise.

About This Ministry

Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House near Waverly offers retreats for Men and Women, as well as for Men only and Women only. The retreat center is a ministry of the Diocese of Lincoln, open to all, providing a peaceful sanctuary to help the faithful deepen their prayer life. The facility includes 50 single rooms with private bathrooms. The retreats include conferences given by the retreat master, Holy Mass, Adoration, Confession and devotions, but otherwise they are silent, allowing time for personal prayer, with limited, optional visiting time. Also offered are Ignatian Retreats that are entirely silent, accompanied by daily individual spiritual direction.

For registered parishioners, the Men’s Club and Altar Society offer to pay one-half of the standard fee, one time per retreat season.

More than 25 weekend retreats are scheduled each year. Also, retreats for laity, priests, seminarians, teachers, school groups, and day retreats take place. The Franciscan Knights of the Holy Eucharist serve at the retreat center. A retreat is a great blessing to all who attend, offering a peaceful, quiet space for prayer, renewal and conversion.

Retreat Schedules

Most retreats begin at 8:00pm on Friday evening and end with lunch on Sunday at noon. However, some retreats follow a slightly different schedule, which is outlined in that particular retreat description. Retreats include:

  • Celebration of the Eucharist each day
  • Conferences given by the retreat master
  • Time for silence, prayer, and devotions
  • Opportunities to receive the Sacrament of Penance
  • Eucharistic Adoration and Benediction
