Dear Parishioners,
These words from Psalm 29 are exactly what we need to hear in these uncertain times. Christ is the Prince of Peace and after his resurrection he reminds us that he gives us a true and lasting peace that the world cannot give. Continue to trust and entrust your lives entirely to the Lord.
This week we celebrate Thanksgiving and we all have so much to be grateful to God for. I am humbled and thankful to be your pastor. I am grateful for our parish community and all the ways that parishioners have stepped up this year with all of its difficulties to build up our parish and school. It has been a collaborative effort.
Take time to really reflect on the countless blessings and graces, big and small, that the Lord has given to you in the midst of this challenging year of 2020.
People continue to take advantage of our extended times of Exposition. When I pop into church to make a visit at different times of the day, there may be upwards of ten to twelve people. Come and be with Christ our King and let Him be your peace
With the new directed health measures outlined for our city and our state, they don’t impact our current guidelines during Mass.
- Churches may be filled up to 50% capacity (which is what we currently follow).
- We continue to practice social distancing, wearing of masks, etc. (please try to social distance by household when coming up for Communion).
- The option of receiving on the tongue is allowed.
- We continue to disinfect the pews and church between Masses.
Our current Mass and Confession schedule remains the same. On Sundays our 8 am and 10 am Masses are at the point of overflow. For these Masses once we reach capacity, Mass will be able to be viewed on the big screen downstairs in Kaczmarek Hall. At Communion time those in K Hall may come upstairs for Communion.
Thank the Lord and trust Him in all things.
Continue to pray, fast and sacrifice for our country and the healing of our divisions.

Emmaus Institute A winter course entitled Heaven, Help the Home: Recapturing a Biblical Vision of Marriage and Family will be offered. It will delve directly into the Sacred Scriptures, to the most defining and informing passages on marriage and parenting, addressing such topics as God’s vision and mission for marriage and family, roles of husbands and wives, why we experience conflicts and how to resolve them, how to parent children who love and walk with God, how to cultivate and maintain love and intimacy, and more. Those who wish for their departed loved ones to be remembered at Masses during the month of November should write the names on the special envelopes (from the packet) which will be kept on the altar during November. Any monetary offerings included in the envelopes will be used for Masses for the Faithful Departed.

Plenary Indulgence Guidelines for November 2020
In order to avoid crowds coming together and to allow participation for those staying at home, changes have been made to how one might receive a
Plenary Indulgence in November 2020.
- These three conditions are the same: one must make a confession, receive communion, and pray for the Holy Father’s Intentions.
- Throughout the month of Nov (the days are not limited this year), one should visit a cemetery and pray for the dead OR visit a church and recite an Our Father and the Creed there. Again, these things may be done at any time during Nov.
- Lastly, the elderly, the sick, and all those who, for serious reasons, cannot leave their homes, will be able to obtain the Plenary Indulgence as they join spiritually with the Faithful, completely detached from sin and with the intention of complying as soon as possible with the three usual conditions (confession, communion, and praying for the Holy Father’s intentions) before an image of Jesus or Mary, recite prayers for the deceased (a rosary or chaplet, for example), or perform a work of mercy by offering to God the sorrows and hardships of their own lives.

The Crib of Bethlehem - Manual for Interior Souls: The crib of Bethlehem is as much the school of the spiritual life as the cross is. We begin to learn at the crib, and we finish with the cross; the one contains all the elements of a life of holiness, the other contains its consummation. To begin, why should Jesus have been born a little child? …He wished to teach us that, from the moment we give ourselves to God, we must put our own judgment, our own will, and our own strength; that we must go back to the smallness and the weakness of a little child; that all our past life must be blotted out, and that we must enter upon a new state of existence, a new life, of which God alone must be the principle. St. Helena brought the Holy Crib from the Holy Land in 326 A.D. Pope Pius IX, had a great devotion to the Holy Crib of Jesus. Because of this devotion, he commissioned a reliquary crypt built under the high altar of St. Mary Major Basilica to hold the wood of the Holy Crib for veneration. In November 2019, Pope Francis returned a small fragment of the Holy Crib back to Catholics in the Holy Land
St. Lucy of Syracuse (283-304) was raised in a wealthy pious family of Greek ancestry. She vowed her life to Christ at a young age. Her mother, Eutychia, arranged a marriage for her which Lucy forestalled for three years. Lucy changed her mother’s mind about the marriage through prayer at St. Agatha’s tomb from whom she received the healing of her mother’s long hemorrhagic illness. Her rejected pagan bridegroom, Paschasius, denounced Lucy as a Christian to the governor of Sicily who sentenced her to forced prostitution. When guards went to fetch her, they could not move her even when they hitched her to a team of oxen. The governor ordered her killed instead. After torture that included having her eyes torn out, she was surrounded by bundles of wood which were set afire; they went out. She was executed by being stabbed to death with a dagger. Legend says her eyesight was restored before her death. This and the meaning of her name led to her connection with eyes, the blind, eye trouble, etc. CatholicSaints.info

An Altar Society Prayer Line has been established to lift up our prayers to God as a community. Leva Orationes Deo is Latin for lift up prayers to God. Paper Needed: The school has a need for recycled paper – any 8 ½” x 11” paper that is blank on one side and free of wrinkles and staples.
