New Voices for Midnight Mass

All are welcome to join the choir at Midnight Mass on Christmas. There will be one practice from 7:30-9:00pm in the choir loft this Thurdsay. Anyone attending Midnight Mass is invited to come early for preludes beginning a half hour before Mass.

 

RCIA: Mary and the Saints

All are welcome to join the upcoming RCIA class on Mon, Dec 19th from 7:00-8:30pm in Kaczmarek Hall. Our topic this week will be “Mary and the Saints”, taught by John Kopetzky and Mary Lou Buss. This is rescheduled from the canceled class on Nov 28th.

Advent Giving Wreaths

Last chance to choose an item from the Advent Giving Wreaths! These will be removed on Sat, Dec 17th. Please turn in all donations by Wed, Dec 21st. Donations will be delivered on Dec 22nd.

Christmas Confessions

Additional confession times to help prepare our souls for Christmas will be on Sat, Dec 17th from 10am-Noon. Normal confessions will also be held prior to the weekday Masses and on Saturdays from 3-4pm, and 5-5:30pm. (5-5:30pm was inadvertently missed in the printed bulletin.)

Christmas Tree Set-Up

The Men’s Club will be setting up the trees for Christmas on Sun, Dec 18th at 1:00pm until finished. All are welcome to come help, connect with friends, and  meet new ones!

 

Purchase a Poinsettia

Purchase a poinsettia to adorn the altar during the Christmas Season in memory of or in honor of a loved one. Midnight Mass will be offered for the intentions of the Christmas Poinsettia donors. The cost is $25. You may use last week’s form or create   your own (include name of donor, names of loved ones) to turn into the parish office or in the rectory slot.

 

Leader for Rosary

Do you enjoy leading the Rosary? If so, we are looking for someone to sub or take one Saturday a month to lead the 3:35pm Rosary prior to the 4pm Mass. Please call Mary J Volkmer at 402-489-7914 if interested.

 

Knights of Columbus

The Knights will be passing out candy after Mass on Dec 17th & 18th in honor of Candy Cane Sunday. All donations received will go towards purchasing items on our parish Giving Tree.

 

Eucharistic Adoration

Spend time with our Eucharistic Lord this Advent. Our new session of adoration will run from Nov 27th-Dec 23rd. What a great way to deepen your Advent Season! Introduction to the Devout Life – Note Time Change!

Are you looking to reinvigorate your spiritual life in preparation for Christmas? Join Fr. Schwenka as we go through St. Francis De Sales great work Introduction to the Devout Life, each Sunday of Advent, Nov 27th-Dec 18th,  7-8pm in Kaczmarek Hall. You need not to have read the book to attend!

 

Men’s Advent Study

Men of the Parish are invited to join us on Thursdays (Dec 1, 8, 15, 22) in Advent. After the 6:30am Mass, we will gather in Kaczmarek Hall 7-8am to read and discuss Advent readings, share coffee, donuts, and fruit. For more information, contact Patrick Callahan at pcallahan5@unl.edu.

An Altar Society Prayer Line has been established to lift up our prayers to God as a parish community. Nebraska Walk for Life

January 28th, 10am at the State Capitol,  followed by the Walk then the keynote speech at 11:30 at UNL Student Union, will bring the 50th Nebraska Walk for Life in Lincoln! Guest speaker will be Dr. john Bruchaliski, who will describe how a return to his religious faith brought him from abortionist to a leading light in pro-life medicine. His Tepeyac Family Center is one of the largest pro-life medical practices in the country, serving as a safe haven for women in crisis pregnancies. His journey is described in his book, “Two Patients: My Conversion from Abortion to Life-Affirming Medicine.” Come and show your support for Life and hear this man’s inspiring story!

Walk for Life Gala

In celebration of Roe v Wade, the inaugural Walk for Life Gala, a fundraiser for Nebraska Right to Life, will be held Fri, Jan 27th, the night before the Walk. Come and join fellow pro-lifers for either or both. This year’s speaker, Dr. John Bruchalski, will be participating in both events. Tickets for the Gala, at Embassy Suites, $50. Pius X Thunderettes

 

Sugar Rush Dance Camp 2023: The Pius X Thunderettes will be sponsoring a Sugar Rush Dance Camp on Jan 14th from 9am-Noon at Pius X High School for ages.

 

Dance Clinic: The Pius X Thunderettes will host a Dance Clinic on Jan 14th from 1-4pm at Pius X High School, ages 12-14.

Carole Fest, a concert for St. Gianna Women’s Home will be held on Sun Dec 18th at 3:00pm at St. John’s Church in Lincoln. Area choirs will perform songs of the season. Emmaus Institute

The Emmaus Institute for Biblical Studies is now accepting registrations for a 5-week course, Opening the Word: Catholics and the Bible. The course will meet in person on Monday evenings, 6:30-8:30 pm beginning Jan 9th and will also be available by video (posted the following day with class notes). Opening the Word is designed to familiarize students with the  Bible generally, preparing them to read, study, pray, love and live the Sacred Scriptures. It is the first of two interterm courses built into our Creation to New Creation program, but everyone is welcome to register for this beneficial course. Mass of the Holy Innocents

The annual mass of the Holy Innocents will be celebrated on Wed Dec 28th at John XXIII diocesan Center Chapel, 3700 Sheridan Blvd. All are invited especially those who have suffered the loss of a baby. All names will be permanently placed on the Banner. Due to time constraints, only names submitted since 2014 will be read aloud. New names may be submitted by calling the Family Life Office, 402-473-0620 before 5pm on Dec 20th or in the vestibule prior to the reading of the names, which will begin at 6:45pm followed by Mass.

 

World Youth Day 2023

The dates for the next World Youth Day in Portugal have been announced, and our diocesan trip is ready to start taking registrations!  Our trip will be from July 24 through August 9, 2023, and includes a side trip to Fatima.  For more information or to register, please visit https://www.lincolndiocese.org/pilgrimages/world-youth-day

Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreats The schedule of retreats for Fall 2022 has been released and is available on the Retreat center’s website HERE. Remember that for St. Teresa parishioners, Men’s Club or Altar Society will pay for half of a standard retreat per year!
