February 24, 2023: Weekend Update

Bulletin Correction: On the Weekly Calendar section of the printed bulletin, it shows that there is no Stations of the Cross on Friday, March 3rd due to the First Penance Holy Hour. It also shows that First Penance is on March 4th. This is incorrect. Below are the corrected dates:

Friday, February 24th, 6:30 p.m.: First Penance Holy Hour – No Stations of the Cross this Friday at 7 p.m.

Saturday, February 25th: First Penance

Friday, March 3rd: Stations of the Cross at 2:30 and 7:00 p.m.

The bulletin blurb next to the calendar is correct.

“I feel that even had I on my conscience every crime one could commit, I should lose nothing of my confidence: my heart broken with sorrow, I would throw myself into the Arms of my Savior. … And I know that all that multitude of sins would disappear in an instant, even as a drop of water cast into a flaming furnace.”

~ St. Therese of the Child Jesus and the Holy Face

Lenten Regulations for the Diocese of Lincoln 2023

Ash Wednesday & Good Friday are days of abstinence. All Fridays of Lent are days of abstinence. Fasting means eating only one full meal with two smaller meals, which together do not equal the full meal. No snacking or eating between meals is allowed. Fasting obliges all Catholics between the ages of 18-59. Abstinence means eating no meat, and no soup or gravy made form meat. Abstinence obliges all Catholics over the age of 14. Sickness, hard manual labor, pregnancy, etc. automatically excuse a person from these obligations. Nevertheless, it should be pointed out that these are serious obligations. In cases of doubt or question, the priest who hears a person’s confession should be consulted.
