Ascension of Our Lord

We observe this Solemnity 40 days after Easter, recalling Our Lord’s ascension into Heaven.

Remember that the Ascension of the Lord is a Holy Day of Obligation for Catholics of our diocese.

Vigil Mass: Wed, May 12 at 5:30pm

Holy Day Masses: 6:30am, 8:15am, and 6:30pm

Please pray for the repose of the soul of Fred Kriege, brother of Connie Fouts.

YEAR OF ST. JOSEPH

These resources are available at the exits of the church:

  • Using a Guide-pamphlet, make a St. Joseph Pilgrimage to honor our beloved saint and his life’s work.
  • St. Joseph Holy Cards: these were created for our parish and feature a unique painting which was commissioned by the Marian Sisters in 2015.
  • Nine Days with Saint Joseph by Magnificat

Queen of the May: Let us keep the treasured tradition of honoring Our Lady, the Mother of God, during the month of May with special devotion. Ideas: have the children in your home help set up a “May Altar” of devotion to the Blessed Mother, adorned with flowers, candles, and pictures of Our Lady. Make time for a family rosary, especially with children who have just received sacraments of Initiation. Mary, Queen of Heaven and Earth, pray for us!

THRIVE NOW... THRIVE FOREVER

thrive.stlfschool.org

  • The THRIVE Endowment supports long-term tuition relief through annual interest payments directly to the school, while      protecting principle for the future. As the endowment grows, so too will the annual support for school families in need.  For example: a $25,000 endowment investment today could ensure the future of a St. Teresa student each and every year, forever. Alternatively, donors may contribute to The THRIVE NOW Fund, which will assist St. Teresa families in need, dollar for dollar, in the current school year. Your gift of $2,000 could keep one or more students at St. Teresa in the 2021-22 school year.
  • For more information, visit thrive.stlfschool.org or contact one of the THRIVE  Committee Members: TJ Casady, Craig Vacek, Emily Moore,      Nathan Seger, Doug Koenig, Phil Cunningham, and Mary Lou Buss

Kaczmarek Hall Lights & Kitchen

  • When using the Hall, please remember to turn off all of the lights when you are finished.
  • Any items left in the church kitchen—tin pans, platters, etc.—that are not claimed by May 16th will be   donated. Even if you don’t think you’re missing anything, you should stop to look through the left-behind items.

Totus Tuus is a vibrant, energetic catechetical summer program for youth. It will be held at St. Teresa June 13-18. Students entering grades 1-8 meet M-F from 9-3 at school. Students entering grades 9-12 meet from 8-10pm Sun-Thu evening in K. Hall.

E-mail (aubrey-potter@cdolinc.net)

or call the rectory office to reserve a spot for your child(ren). The cost is $25 per child but no more than $75 per family, to be collected in late-May.

Thrift Store: Until I started volunteering at our parish thrift store this past winter, I had no idea how many people in our community rely on it for shopping for basic household necessities and clothing (as well as the fun extras too!). As a longtime parishioner, I was missing out on this special apostolate of ours because it was much easier to assume others were covering the volunteering. Now, because God has a sense of humor, I'm the one trying to find 12 volunteers each week to keep it open. Many weeks this is difficult. You can help make my job easier, but even moreso, you can experience the hidden resource it is for so many by giving just 3-4 hours a month on a Friday evening or Saturday morning or afternoon. Contact me via phone/text at 402-610-3153 or reneeannecunningham@gmail.com

Religious Sister | Vocation of the Week

Each week, a new entrant from Lincoln Diocese Motherhouse will be “featured”.

This week, let us pray for Sr. Bethany Orr, from Los Angeles CA who is a Novice with the Marian Sisters.

Three Hours of Eucharistic Exposition need to be covered until May 23rd:

  • Tuesdays from 2-3pm
  • Wednesdays from 7-8pm
  • Fridays 4-5pm

Altar Servers

The fourth and fifth grade boys have been trained to serve.

On Fri, May 21st from 2-3pm, Tony Schafers will lead a review session for all Altar boys—new and experienced. Boys who attend

St. Teresa Elementary will be automatically included in the review session. Boys who do not attend St. Teresa school are encouraged to attend!

If your son would like to be an Altar Server but has not been trained, please contact the Parish Office

Mon-Fri 9am-4pm: 402-477-3979

Grand Group: Our May event will take place on Tue, May 18th at 1:00 at the Knights of Columbus hall. We are  fortunate to have as our guest, Janet Buck, who has been a registered dietitian for 25 years. She will share information on nutrients of special interest to our age group and insight into how our diet can affect diabetes, heart disease and high blood pressure. Janet will also discuss the pros and cons of commonly used dietary supplements. Be sure to join us as we learn more about how the right diet can help us live healthier lives!

RSVP by May 14th to Phyllis (402-488-9107)

Our Incoming Parochial Vicar

Father Samuel Beardslee was born in 1989 in North Carolina, where he stayed a grand total of 2 weeks before moving to Virginia, as his mother was in the Air Force. He went to elementary school in Oklahoma, high school in Virginia, started college in Alabama, finished in Virginia, and then discerned entering the seminary for the Lincoln  Diocese, due to both sides of the family being from Nebraska. The Beardslee’s in particular were parishioners of St. Teresa’s long ago. Father Beardslee said, “I’m looking forward to meeting you all, and sharing more in person.” Father Beardslee arrives June 14, 2021.
